During METS, held last November, the 23rd edition of the HISWA Symposium on Yacht Design and Yacht Construction took place. One of the topics dealt with, was the ‘Merits of flapping roll stabilizer fins’, a discussion presented by Reint Dallinga and Stephane Rapuc from MARIN in collaboration with Arnold van Aken from DMS Holland / AntiRoll. During the keynote presentation, the functionality of the AntiRoll roll damping system, based on flapping fins was explained with reference to practical tests and calculations.

The HISWA Symposium is made up of a comprehensive programme of which developments and insights concerning yacht design and construction are focal points. Renowned universities, research institutes and companies from around the world share their findings with the market. The symposium is an initiative brought together by HISWA, TU Delft and Amsterdam RAI and is supported by MARIN, DAMEN, Royal Huisman Shipyard and FEADSHIP. The symposium, first organized in 1967, takes place every 2 years. The program is aimed at national and international yacht builders, naval architects and (R & D) engineers.
