The RotorSwing system is now also available with a ‘zero-speed’ function which prevents the ship rolling whilst it is still or at anchor. In order to dampen swaying, the rotors make a “swinging” motion from front to back under the ship in addition to rotating around their axis. The first two ‘zero-speed’ systems have been sold to Wim van der Valk Continental Yachts for two 23 meter fast sailing aluminum yachts. Alongside the so-called “Rake” functionality, the owners of these yachts (which will both be sailed in the Mediterranean) also have an optimal system from 0 to 18 knots. Above 18 knots, the boat is on “the plane” and the rotors are then retracted next to the Volvo Penta IPS engines.[embedyt]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbxoQ0MAiL4&width=500$height=350[/embedyt]
